I. Incense

This is a long-running project that is still being filmed.

The first chapter is about the incense sticks at the gate of the Chaoshan area in Guangdong, China. Its custom is to place incense at the door of the house. There is no such custom in my hometown, so I took a bunch of them out of curiosity.

The door can be understood as the epitome of a family’s outward appearance. We can infer the family’s economic status from the fragments of incense sticks at the door. I understand it as the voice of the class.

I want to find fragments of class in each community, which can be the incense sticks at the door, or the lawn in the yard, etc.

On the road of continuous exploration and discovery, look for the “incense sticks” that belong to each city.

II. Optical Fiber

The second chapter is about the optical fiber at the gate of the Optical Fiber in Beijing Courtyard Hutong.

III. Flower Basket

Balinese Hindus believe that all things have animism. Wherever people live, small flower baskets are filled with petals and food. Devout locals serve the gods and worship every day.
